Change.gov

The new Obama policies website is up now.  With all this change talk we’ve been hearing it was great to see this site available so quickly.  They have been working on it for awhile and you won’t get through it in one easy read, but it’s not that dense either.  I haven’t had a chance to read it all yet very carefully, such as enhancing the science sector, but I’m going back to read more.  We started with the economic stuff at the top of the column.  There is even ample opportunity to send in your ideas, thoughts and concerns.  So, no more grumbling in the corner for me. You know, this is my corner where I sometimes grumble….

Obama Policies

Christine June 5th, 2008

I’m giving my husband his own post this morning! He left it as a comment on my previous post, but his insight is very pertinent in view of Tuesday’s wrap-up of the Democratic primaries and hopefully a hint of what is to come. We all need to make more of an effort to be informed. That is a statement for myself more than anything. The information is out there if we are inquisitive enough and open enough to new ideas.

There’s an enormous amount of detail about policy and issues at his website… the issues page is: http://www.barackobama.com/issues/

I think it’s important to remember that ALL candidates have to paint with a very broad brush in speeches, due to the nature of TV and sound-bites… the real question is what lies beneath the surface of those brush-strokes. Sometimes its not really much of anything, but in Obama’s case, it’s obvious he’s done some serious thinking about policy, the problems we face, and some possible solutions.

Obama seems to be the first candidate on the national level who is leveraging “new media” like the internet to provide a huge amount of data about specifics… he’s definitely a 21st century candidate in this respect.

I think his command of the issues in debates is going to be very difficult for McCain to counter… I have a feeling he held back in debates with the other Dems just due to his sense of not wanting to “damage” people who he sees as basically teammates.

Pick it up!
