Departed ~ OSI

Christine November 8th, 2009

trees calmly disrobe
they are blessed with no regrets
leaves shed one by one

sad winter farewells
pines moan lonely with the wind
all the birds have flown

standing near the river
from the mountain rain travels
I bend to make tea
leaf on rock1

Lovely, lovely! “trees calmly disrobe” … a very still and thoughtful poem. The accompanying photo is a perfect fit.

Christine, I just adored this… especially the last stanza:

    standing near the river
    from the mountain rain travels
    I bend to make tea

    Wow…

(and sorry if I’m not commenting as often as I would like… I have finally realized that working almost full time, I’m lucky to get one comment a week on all my favorite bloggies, yours being one of them! I will be here, just on a slightly modified schedule… and thanks for all your wonderful posts below. I love to read your work.)

I just love this series of poems, Christine. Wish I was there to have some of that tea.

we had one tree that lost all the leaves in one day, your first verse made me think of this-

    shedding off her leaves,
    with a practiced abandon-
    the old apple tree

The photo and your poem go well together, Christine. The picture has so many elements juxtaposed: dry, wet, forest, river, stone, leaf – it is a poem in itself. I love the reverie of your last line: “I bend to make tea.”

Beautiful photo and poem. I love the transient warm colour of the leaf and pine needles against the cold grey stones.

A beautiful series – departure personified. Strangely enough I took a similar photo this past weekend to use for a meme post tomorrow. I love your words and photograph.

Christine, you are a poet! The simplicity and peace comes forth in your poems as well as your other writings…the zen-like perfection of pausing in the midst of nature’s revelations to make Tea. Perfect…

I’ll have that cup of tea with you, thank you! What fun! What a creative idea. Tea is the only response one can make to the lonely, howling, barren winter!

Lovely trio, but the first is my favorite! No regrets!

you captured winter’s near arrival so well with your words. the trees will soon be standing lonely and cold in the coldness while we’re inside looking out.
