Windows ~ OSI

Christine August 3rd, 2009

I am publishing the spider’s web photo again for the OSI prompt this week which is Windows. Please join us at One Single Impression.

Sleeping In The Forest by Mary Oliver
I thought the earth remembered me,
she took me back so tenderly,
arranging her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds.
I slept as never before, a stone on the river bed,
nothing between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated light as moths
among the branches of the perfect trees.
All night I heard the small kingdoms
breathing around me, the insects,
and the birds who do their work in the darkness.
All night I rose and fell, as if in water,
grappling with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better.

I am sorry it is so small at OSI.

I am maxed out on Picasa space on blogger and asked for some help with this one. Still working on it.

“I slept as never before, nothing between me and the white fire of stars”
Each line is like a prayer, breathing the spirit of renewal. Your photo, a delicate reminder of the fragile beauty that is everywhere.
Thank you for the prompt this week. Be well.

    Christine,
Your photo is so very beautiful!
One or maybe two years ago I memorized this very poem. It is one of my all time favorites. Instead of bear bells or whatever, sometimes I recite this when in the woods alone, so perfect. I have experienced this poem, perhaps that is why it means so much to me. Thank you.

Lovely poem, one I had not read before, but one to savor, along with that wonderful. I can forgive spiders a lot for making webs like this, to catch the dew!

Gorgeous photo and beautiful poem for this prompt. I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to participate this week, long story….

The MMM prompts are not about the movie. I just include a link FYI re: movie summary etc. The prompt can take the reader/participant in whatever direction they want to go. I have always loved movie titles and often think of other interpretations of them, that’s why I started MMM.

    Here’s mine for August:

Hope you will be able to participate too!

Oh to be a fly on the wall or a stone in the creek. Of course I wouldn’t trade but it makes good stuff for dreaming.
I don’t know about the wet web.
Did it lose its stickniness? :-)
    ..

Pick it up!
