Hang drum

Christine May 19th, 2007

This instrument is a modern variation on a steel drum. The musician is using contact mics and delays for effect. The Hang has a very mellow sound and I enjoy the way this piece travels.

“The hang made its debut at Musikmesse Frankfurt in 2001. Its name comes from the Berne dialect word for hand.”

I’m glad to see that someone else’s studio looks…. so well organized. Our studio is a disaster area right now. Oh look, Honey: he has bigger studio monitors than ours.

I loved the “his masters voice” dog in the background – his ear to the modern speaker instead of Edison’s horn speaker.
    fun music too.

Pick it up!
