One Word ~ OSI
Christine April 21st, 2009
A breath of one word
the poet could search lifetimes
to simply find that
clear window of the spirit
elusive speech of the now.
The prompt this week at One Single Impression stumped me for a couple of days but here is my offering. Thanks to all the poets there and to Sandy for her efforts.
This photo is another view which Matthew shot the other day from the west shore of Flathead Lake. Do not be deceived that the water looks inviting. It is frigid, and it will stay that way until well into July. There were other boats out fishing but we didn’t see anyone; we only saw the boat trailers at the dock and ramp. Not even a hearty sailboat taking in the light wind.

What a beautiful scene. Wasn’t this a wonderful prompt to interpret? I love all the different ways the participants viewed this one, including yours C.

Outstanding! (and how true) Love your poem.
Beautiful poem, and even though that water’s cold, the picture has me thinking of summer.
It doesn’t look cold, but I know it is. ‘Clear window of the spirit’ is a phrase that sings…Lovely words and beautiful photo!
Such a true observation, what writer of any sort hasn’t agonized over this one time or another!
So true, you caught it perfectly. You guys be careful out there on that cold water. Our northern lakes haven’t gone out yet.
What a beautiful photo! You are right, I am trying to be a poet, and of course I am still searching for …
“elusive speech of the now.”
How interesting, my word verification is “solace”, which is what this poem brings to me … consoling me until I find that one elusive word. Thank you, as you have inspired me today.
Glad you didn’t continue to be “stumped” Christine! (Sorry – couldn’t help it!) I love the placid picture of Flathead as viewed from the stump. Your bright canoe adds just the right touch of Now! The poem is beautiful.
(Why is my anti-spam word “kooky??”
very cool pic and the words “elusive speech of the now” are beautiful. I was stumped as well on the prompt.
I love that “elusive speech of the now.” It is so often–ever, really–elusive.
A beautiful capture. Don’t tip over into that icy water.
This is really a great shot. I love the spot of red standing out from all the shades of blue and gray. Lovely poem as well, and it goes so nicely with the photo.
Lovely, both picture and poem.
Dear Christine–
Love the photo of Flathead Lake; like I think I’ve said before, that is one of my favorite places in the world. I have some pictures from a trip there years ago I should scan in and post sometime!
Love your window of the spirit having no words, dear one.
Less inclined to talk all the time…
Thank you, so much–
..a beautiful poem & a lovely view..many thanks..
Still searching…
Beautiful.
