She moves in silence ~ moon shot

Christine December 12th, 2008

We only get a chance for a frame like this once a year it seems.  Last year it was the Hunter’s Moon. This photo was taken last evening around 4:45 pm.  The sun was already down and I glanced out the window, as I so often do (I don’t get much done because I’m always looking at what the mountains are doing towards sunset).  Low and behold!  Matthew grabbed some shots off our front porch with the zoom lens. He did not use the tripod, he just did this hand-held.  He felt lucky, I guess.

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies,
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meets in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellow’d to that tender light        Lord Byron
Which Heaven to gaudy day denies.

    Perfect title for this: I can hear the hush. And the dip between the peaks is like the open palm of the earth – beautiful!

    This makes one feel so small, doesn’t it? I like Deb’s comment about the palms of the earth. Lucky, indeed!

    that perigee moon…she did a number on us. one of the poems I did for distraction had her as a main character in it…

    these are beautiful shots–like I said, your shots make me so homesick for the Rockies!
