Is it snowing yet?

Christine December 2nd, 2008

This will be the last of blue sky we see here for some time. I snapped this photo of the Missions a couple of days ago in the late afternoon while on our walk. A storm pulled in and planted itself firmly in the valley during the night and it is now raining. I hope it’s snowing up in the higher elevations. Right now our favorite ski area at Look Out has only about 5 inches. Big Mountain has only 6 inches. They did have 8″ but a warm wind blew in and you know what happens then. Ski areas are negatively impacted by warming temperatures. The snow comes later and melts earlier so the snow pack isn’t as reliable.  Last winter was definitely more as I remember an old fashioned, snow-fall when I was a child.  We’ll just have to be patient:   wax our fingers and cross our skis… oh – I mean cross our fingers and wax our skis!

Evening update:  Look Out Pass accumulated about 5 inches so now they have 10!  Whoohoo!

Christine, I can hear you champing at the bit all the way over here! :-) We just barely had a skiff here last night, but plenty of wind. Hope you get your wish soon!

It has to be very cold for us to get snow where I live on the south coast of England. I have to visit family in Switzerland if I want to see the snow.

Sounds like snowy days ahead for you. If you need blue skies periodically, drop by my blogs because we get them year round here at the beach in Southern California and I promise to share liberally.
    Hugs and blessings,

Pick it up!
